BTB Families —
Welcome back, and to the new faces joining us this season: we are genuinely excited to have you. This is the most prepared we have ever been heading into a fall, and I want you to know exactly what is coming so you can plan your family's schedule around it.
Here is the headline: this year is about practice quality. Not just showing up — showing up ready. We have built one shared curriculum across the entire program, we are adding film sessions, we are adding walkthroughs, and we are running a full winter program indoors. From the staff, to the parents, to the players, everybody is going to be on the same page.
I am also going to be around a lot more this year now that I am not coaching any varsity sports. You will see me at fields, on Zooms, and in your inbox. Read this one all the way through — there are several things below that need action from you.
The biggest change this year is one I have wanted to make for a long time. I have built a full curriculum where the same terminology is used across the entire program — every team, every age group, offense and defense.
That means a 2033 hearing a concept in practice is hearing the exact same word our oldest teams are hearing. When a player moves up, nothing is foreign. When a coach subs in, nothing is lost in translation. And when we get to a tournament, every team on the sideline is speaking the same language.
This curriculum flows down to every coach and every staff member, and it ties directly into our film sessions so players hear it, then see it, then talk about it.
The result you will see on the field: our kids are going to look more prepared than they ever have.
I will personally be running grouped film sessions for both the girls and boys programs. Each session walks through the terminology, shows clips of the concept, and then we open it up for discussion with the players.
I know everybody's schedule is packed. That is exactly why these are intentionally brief:
Terminology, clips, and a short discussion. Tight and age-appropriate.
Deeper concept work with more player-led discussion of what they are seeing.
If your player misses one, you will not be behind. All sessions will be recorded and posted where you can click and watch on your own time. I will let you know exactly where they live once they are up.
It is important that we get these in. They are the connective tissue between what we say at practice and what happens on Saturday.
The current fall tournament schedule is laid out below. We took real time on this and built an individual path for each team rather than dropping everyone into the same events.
Some teams are on a path that will require travel. Other teams we are still navigating toward tournaments where they will be successful, enjoy playing with their teammates, and get the right kind of adversity to grow through. Both paths are intentional.
The 2028s remain BLUE CHIP INVITATIONAL and Baltimore only, while Fall Classic is part of the Dawgs' scheduled slate and the Wolves' only fall tournament. Only fall tournaments entered on the actual master calendar are shown.

* Tournament is off Long Island. Game times will be added when tournament directors release them.
Please mark your availability for every tournament as soon as the schedules post. This is the single most time-sensitive item in this newsletter.
If you have a conflict, I need to know immediately. If we do not have the numbers for an event, I have to call that tournament director and make changes — and I can only do that early. If we wait too long, we cannot pull a team out and the club loses that money. We have been through that before and I do not want to be there again.
We are adding walkthroughs this year, which we may schedule on ahead of tournaments so that every team arrives ready. These are streamlined across the entire program — same script, same language, every team.
| Walkthrough Block | What Gets Covered |
|---|---|
| Offense | Sets, spacing, and the terminology from the curriculum |
| Defense | Calls, slides, and shared communication |
| Rides | Pressure structure and how we get the ball back |
| Clears | Outlets and getting into offense cleanly |
| Subbing | On-the-fly changes so it is clean, not chaotic |
Everybody on the same page — that is the whole point.
My goal for this fall is 85% attendance or better. Here is why that number matters: the curriculum, the film sessions, and the walkthroughs only pay off if the kids are actually there to absorb them. If a player is in and out, they are not going to understand what we want and what we expect — and it will show up during tournament play.
We navigated the practice schedule around a huge number of conflicts to accommodate as many families as we possibly could. Please do your best to get your child to practice. It is going to be extremely important this year.
A note on field space: we sometimes have to wait on confirmations — Seaford in particular kept us waiting this year. That is why some practice slots landed later and some landed earlier. We built the schedule around a lot of moving conflicts to accommodate everybody.
It was always nice having fields close to home, and we will always try to keep it that way — but as the club grows, some travel comes with it.
Once all schedules are posted, if you have a conflict please let us know right away. We cannot always cater to every conflict, but we will absolutely try our best — and early is the only time we can do anything about it.
We have the Momentum facility Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM all winter. Every team gets an hour block, and we are stacking optional training right up against it so you are not making two trips.
If your team practices at 9:00 AM, your player can do Speed, Agility & Strength at either 8:00 AM or 10:00 AM — right before or right after — and then you are done for the day. One trip, two sessions. I think it is a really good model for families.
Teams train together as a full roster — functional, athletic movement built to develop power, force, and motor control, so we come out of the winter as more resilient, more explosive athletes.

We are also running two-hour blocks pairing two teams together. Those blocks are strictly:
Beyond team blocks, we are bringing in specialists so players can train at a high level with intense reps. These are optional add-ons and priced separately — several of them also have to cover the cost of the indoor facility.
All of the training below lives in one place: the BTB Parent Hub, a password-protected page on the website. Once you are in, you can browse every option by tab and sign up for whichever sessions you want, for whichever kid, in whatever combination works for your family.
The Faceoff Academy, Stonewall Defensive Training, and Breakout Goaltending register through their own programs — but every link is in the Parent Hub and below, so you never have to go hunting.
Greg Gurenlian's TFOA is at Momentum on Thursday nights, starting this week. Full details below ↓
Run by Emma Mclam and Mckenzie Busch, both on our staff. Coming soon — dates and pricing being finalized.
Group defensive training at Momentum, split into Novice and Advanced. $70 per player, per session. Full details below ↓
Our partner goalie program — three discounted sessions at $100 through the BTB partnership. Full details below ↓
Run by Coach Dan and staff at Momentum. Six Monday nights beginning September 14 — $250. Boys and girls register in separate groups. Details below ↓
I will be running the offensive training myself on both the boys and girls side, along with other members of our staff. This is at Momentum, it is à la carte, and it is separate from your team's practice hour.
This is not a clinic where kids stand in line. It is intense training with a ton of reps, and it is built as a progression — each session builds on the last until we hit specific benchmarks for that player's age and skill level. Multiple age groups, no play-in, pure skill development on the offensive end.
$250 for 6 Monday sessions: September 14, 21, and 28; October 5, 12, and 19, 2026. Choose Boys Monday Night or Girls Monday Night; each group has its own exact live registration count. Coach Dan will confirm each group's start time directly with registered families.
$250 covers all 6 sessions. Save the player's registration first, then continue directly to secure QuickBooks payment. I receive the full registration summary and the separate QuickBooks paid receipt.
This is a big one for our boys. Greg Gurenlian — "The Beast" — and The Faceoff Academy are coming to Momentum. If you have a face-off guy, or a kid who is curious about taking the draw, this is the highest level of face-off instruction available anywhere.
Beginner · Intermediate · Advanced | Thursdays 5–8 PM at Momentum | All season
Group defensive training, broken out by skill level so nobody is in over their head and nobody is bored. Novice and Advanced groups. Each session runs one hour.
Follow to be the first to know when sessions drop — spots fill fast.
We are continuing our partnership with Breakout Goaltending for another season. BTB is supplementing three discounted goalie training sessions for our families — this is one of the best values in the entire program.

Draw work for our girls will be run by Emma Mclam and Mckenzie Busch, both members of our staff. This is dedicated draw instruction — separate from team practice and built specifically around winning possession.
Emma and Mckenzie are finalizing dates and pricing now. If your daughter takes the draw or wants to learn, keep an eye out — details are close.
I want to be upfront: this league does not have to be strictly BTB. It is genuinely an open league. But I want our players in it, because I find real value in sixes — it forces kids to get up and down at a fast pace with a huge number of touches, and our goalies see a ton of shots.

We pick things up with practices right after Labor Day. Please go through your player's bag this week. The goal is simple: they get out of the car, get their gear on, and are ready to practice. No equipment problems eating into field time.
If your player needs a new stick or you want advice on what to buy, message me directly. I am happy to help you out. Equipment is extremely important — to play well, a kid has to feel comfortable.
It gets cold, and it gets cold fast. Please make sure everyone has proper clothing. It is always easier to take warm clothes off than to stand out there freezing. Keep a hoodie and sweatpants in the bag at all times.
If your daughter wears gloves, they must be lacrosse gloves. Not winter gloves. And hands do not go inside sleeves. If you need help finding the right pair, let me know.
Use the correct store for your player's program. Uniform stores are separated for boys and girls, with a third shop for BTB equipment.
If there is a specific item you want in the store, send a message to me, Sean, or Taylor. We will pass it to Lacrosse Unlimited, they will source that article of clothing, and let us know whether we can use it.
Sean Reynolds and Taylor Horan are BTB's Boys Directors for the 2026–27 season. For all boys-program questions or concerns — including teams, schedules, tournaments, coaching, player development, or communication — please go directly to Sean or Taylor. They are the first point of contact for the boys program.
Contact Sean with any boys-program question or concern.

coachtbtb@gmail.comIf you are unhappy with something, please bring it to the coaches. They bring it to me or to the director, and we fix it. Too often things fester quietly until they are past the point where we can do anything about them.
Let us know when there is an issue and we will help find a solution. That is the whole standard here: we find solutions, we do not complain, and we do what is best for the kids.
Last year we had issues with parents approaching coaches at tournaments and ignoring the 24-hour rule. There will be no warning this year.
If you are unhappy at a tournament, you wait 24 hours. You do not approach a coach. If you do, I have to remove you from the program.
This is one of the standards we are holding ourselves to. It is not fair to the coaches, and we are all adults. BTB has always tried to be the club that keeps that standard, and we all want to function together so the kids are successful on and off the field.
A full set of policies will go out next week, once all the team Zooms have concluded.
Full policy document goes out to all families after the team Zooms wrap.
We are bringing in a nutritionist to speak with the kids. I have a Zoom with them this coming Monday or Thursday.
We begin planning spring tournaments now and expect to be done by September at the latest — which means we are set for the entire year.
Details on how we enter BTB teams into the sixes league.
A few teams are sitting a little light on numbers. If you know a player out there who fits the BTB mold, point them our way. Let's work together to make sure the program is running the best it possibly can.
One last thing.
I hope every player has a great first week of school. After Labor Day we pick things right back up.
We have some new faces at BTB this year and we are excited to have them. Our focus is practices — making sure they are at a high level and that everybody is well prepared, from the staff to the parents to the players.
You are going to see me involved a lot more this year. I appreciate everybody's effort — everything you do for your children, for me, for the staff, and for this program. Let's do everything we possibly can to make our kids successful on and off the field.
